"Being “Head of Family Justice” is a very broad and busy role and, of course, I will continue to be fully involved in all aspects of the work as I have tried to be thus far; but, within that, what are my priorities – what do I want to achieve by the time that I hang up my wig and flashy robes in 3 years’ time?”

The words of the President of the Family Court, Sir Andrew McFarlane, who has reiterated the need to reform proceedings in the Family Court. Speaking at the Jersey International Family Law Conference 2021, he stressed the need for transparent media reporting so that the public understood the work being done on their behalf. Under his presidency, Child Arrangements post separation could also be reformed so that cases of straightforward relationship disfunction, not involving abuse or a need for protection, would not need to go before a magistrate or judge for resolution.
